About Us

The co-founders of Reggae Golf Crew Ralph James, an Entrepreneur of Baldwin Long Island, and Doug Marriott, a businessman of Hempstead, Long Island, carefully thought of a way to bring some competition to the weekend fun for their golfing buddies and themselves. Reggae Golf Crew was established on Long Island in 2004 with memberships of 20 golfers. One of the requirements for acceptance in the club was to have a 22 handicap or lower.

The membership, which is predominantly West Indian, had an influence on the naming of the club. The idea of bringing golfers with high and low handicap together in harmony was a challenge. No format was available to meet their unique needs at the time. Throwing ideas back and forth they came up with a game plan. It was to find an incentive for golfers with a high handicap, to compete with golfers of a lower handicap and have the higher handicap golfer become better. Therefore a new brand of match play was introduced. The season runs from mid April to early October. They play as a group every other Saturday on different golf courses

The Reggae Golf Crew's Regular Play Format Is As Follows:

Each hole is counted as points won or loss. All scores will be tallied at end of the season. The golfer with the best win/loss average will emerge the winner for the season. With that in mind it is important to try to win as many holes as possible, even when loosing a match.
